Module 1

  1. What are your beliefs about how people learn best? What is the purpose of learning theory in educational technology?

    I believe that people learn through a combination of learning styles. In my opinion the best way to teach anyone is to combin different learning styles in your delivery. Most students are not good at rote memorization, they need to be able interact with the material and become actively involved in the educational process.
         Learning theory and educational technology mesh well together because the various learning theories make way for the interactive techniques used in educational technology. Many of the educational theorists of the past noted the importance of allowing students to become actively involved because it aids in retention. Educaitonal technology allows for an interactive and creative avenue for students to learn.

    We have similar beliefs in learning styles, habits, and abilities of individuals. Have you considered the types of intelligence that individuals operate with? I believe that this has a great deal to do with the way we all learn.

    The social or socialization ingredient in the learning processing is pivotal and enables learners who lean toward participatory styles to thrive.

    Brandi,
    I agree that we learn best through a combination of different learning styles and theories. I also agree with you about students needing to interact with material. I often find that lessons that are hands on or that require a student to use the skill you're teaching to solve a problem that is relevant to them, that they are much more engaged in learning and learn more as a result. What are your thoughts on how students interacting with each other affects learning?
